John Allemand graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 1991. He completed a weight room internship at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. While there, he was responsible for designing strength and conditioning programs for athletes competing in the 1992 Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. He received his certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in 1992.
John was employed with Lutheran General Hospital and Advocate Fitness as an Exercise Specialist. From 1992 to 1996, he was Manager of Corporate Fitness for Northern Trust Bank as well as serving as a strength and conditioning coach for the Northwestern University Wildcat Football program in 1996.
Receiving his Masters of Physical Therapy from Midwestern University in 1999 he has been involved with orthopedic outpatient physical therapy and sports medicine ever since. He continues to be involved in designing and implementing various strength and conditioning programs for athletes at all levels. Most recently, he received his Level 3 Titleist Performance Institute Medical Professional Certification and has co-designed the strength and conditioning program for the Northwestern University Men and Women’s Golf Teams.
John is happy to be part of the team at Optimum Physical Therapy. He specializes in both surgical and non-surgical rehab. He has received advanced education in spine, shoulder, hip, knee and lower extremity biomechanics including design of custom fabricated foot orthotics.
